David Hobbs, Head of Research at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), has been instrumental in establishing a growing reputation for the Center over the past 3 years as it has grown to more than 60 researchers in the field of energy economics and policy.
KAPSARC was established as an independent, global energy and economics and environment policy research Center to identify policies that would increase the welfare of society globally.
Mr. Hobbs is an adjunct professor at the University of Calgary and was one of the founders of the Global Energy Executive MBA program run jointly between the Haskayne School of Business and IHS-CERA.
He was a principal author of Fueling North America’s Energy Future, one of the first studies to recognize the extent and impact of the shale revolution, and of Recession Shock: The Impact of the Economic and Financial Crisis on the Oil Market.
Prior to joining KAPSARC, Mr. Hobbs was Chief Energy Strategist at IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates. He is an expert in energy industry structure and strategies, having been engaged in the global energy industry for more than three decades.
