Paul Karofsky is an expert on wholesale distribution, having served as President of the industry's regional and international trade associations and as a trustee of the U.S Association of Wholesale Distributors.

Paul Karofsky is a trustee of the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for Aged, member of the board of The Psychoanalytic Couple and Family Institute of New England, member of the Family Firm Institute, member of The Cambridge Center for Creative Enterprise, Director of Transition Consulting Group, Director of Northeastern University's Center for Family Business, and Editor of Family Business Review.

He has served on the Governor's Entrepreneurial Advisory Committee and the sub-committee for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Education. He was named an outstanding faculty resource by the Young Presidents' Organization (1995), and was chosen to receive the Hollander Award by the Family Firm Institute for outstanding contributions to the field of family business practice (1998).

Karofsky received a BA from Bowdoin College, an OPM certification from Harvard Business School, and a MD from Harvard University, concentrating his studies on communication and personal relationships with special interest in Human Development and Psychology. He had served most of his career as President and CEO of his family's wholesale distribution business before selling it in 1988.
