Claudia Palacios has been a journalist for more two decades. She is a columnist for the newspaper El Tiempo, is finishing her studies for a master’s degree in Gender at Universidad de los Andes. She has been news director at El Tiempo TV/City TV, and Canal Capital, worked for W Radio, host of the television newscast CM&; anchor, reporter, and co-producer of various programs on CNN en Español and reporter and presenter for Canal Caracol in Colombia.

In 2004, Claudia Palacios joined CNN en Español as a journalist and news anchor, leading "Mirador Mundial", the network's weekend newscast. From 2010-2014, she produced and presented “Encuentro”, the daily Latin American news and current affairs program. She also directed and hosted the quarterly program "Los Influyentes" and presented "Destinos", earning her three nominations to an Emmy. She also published a weekly interview in the news-paper El Pueblo de Cali until 2016.

During her time at CNN, Palacios covered worldwide topics from the CNN World Center in Atlanta, such as the death of Pope John Paul II; the tsunami in Asia; the rescue of the FARC hostages in Colombia in July 2008; the presidential elections of most countries in the region. In addition, she interviewed several leaders, including José Miguel Insulza, Álvaro Uribe, Juan Manuel Santos, Rafael Correa, Ollanta Humala, Michelle Bachelet, Vicente Fox, Evo Morales, Lula Da Silva, Sebastián Piñera, among others.

Prior to joining CNN en Español, Palacios worked as an anchor and reporter for Canal Caracol in Colombia. In 2009, she was chosen as journalist of the year by the Association of Chambers of Commerce of Latin America. Before, she won the CELSAM (Center for Latin American Studies for Women's Health) health prize in Mexico, for her journalistic work on health issues in favor of women and the adolescent population. 

In 2012 she moved back to Colombia as she believed that she could provide a better service to society as journalist. 

In 2013, she published her first book, “Are you going or are you staying?” with Editorial Planeta, with the stories of 30 migrant, to give future migrants the tools to make their experience as successful as they want it to be. In 2015 she published her second book, "Forgive the Unforgivable", with a hundred chronicles and interviews with victims and former perpetrators of the armed conflict in Colombia. This research earned her the Simón Bolívar Journalism Award 2014 in the category of Best Interview on Radio. In 2019, she published “HemBRujaS, many voices of a fight in which men are lacking”, with interviews to 83 women, that won her the CPB journalism price as best book.

She combines her journalism work with conferences and trainings to spokespersons and she is also part of some boards, pro bono, to support social causes against violence to benefit kids and families.

Born in Cali (Colombia), Palacios graduated with a degree in journalism from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota).
